Food Rules Part 1
May 12, 2022Introducing healthy living expert Jesse Curtis. He is joining us to talk about the four food rules that will immediately improve your health.
Food is medicine and medicine is food.
Good food doesn't have to taste bad!
Or another myth - food that tastes good CAN be good for you too.
Being healthy is a commitment but it is worth it.
Here's what you can do to change the way you look at food.
The 5 Strategies for Healthy Eating:
Traditional Fats and Oils: Avoiding vegetable oils, instead we should be using butter, lard, olive oil, and coconut oil. Fat is absolutely essential for healthy cells and function. Healthy fat intake: start with healthy, high-quality butter, cook with it, spread on sourdough, and use it as a condiment. Getting good fats in the morning can help you feel satisfied and help you not to crave sugar and carbohydrates.
Meat Cooked on the Bone: Rotisserie Chicken, T-Bone, Bone Broth. There are a lot of great nutrients in the bone. Cooking meat on the bone and making soup with bones helps bring out the nutrients stored in the bone. Bones are nutrient reserves.
Organ Meats and Other Parts of the Animal: Liver, Kidneys, Bone Marrow, Fish Eyes. Culture has taken us away from using other parts of the animals but it's so healthy for your body. Be open to expanding your pallet. These foods prepared correctly do actually taste good. The liver is where toxins go to get neutralized, it is not a reservoir of toxins.
Soaked, Sprouted, and Fermented: Grains and seeds can be detrimental to the digestive system if not prepared correctly. Enzyme inhibitors protect the seeds and are terrible for digestion. Soaking and sprouting unpack those enzyme inhibitors. Fermenting is like predigesting food and makes nutrients more accessible.
Fresh and Raw, Plant, and Animal Products: Fresh vegetables that haven't been off the plant long or have sat in the grocery store, quality raw egg yolks, and raw milk.
